Chapter 128: Śiva–Umā Dialogue—Tilottamā, the Ritual Valence of the Śmaśāna, and the Fourfold Duty-Code
क्लिश्यमानान् विमार्गेषु कामक्रोधावृतात्मन: । मन्ये त्वं ध्यायसि जनांस्तेनासि हरिण: कृश:
kliśyamānān vimārgeṣu kāmakrodhāvṛtātmanaḥ | manye tvaṃ dhyāyasi janāṃs tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||
婆罗门说道:“我想你常把心念系于那些内心为欲望与愤怒所遮蔽、误入歧途而受苦的人。因你不断思量这些受难者,你便消瘦而面色苍白。”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Desire and anger cloud the inner self and push people onto harmful paths that lead to suffering; the verse highlights compassionate concern for such deluded sufferers and implies the ethical need for self-mastery and right conduct.
A Brahmin addresses someone who appears weakened and pale, inferring that this condition comes from constant mental preoccupation with people who, overcome by desire and anger, are suffering due to their misguided ways.
