Bhishma teaches that a life grounded in the stated virtues (guṇas) yields a divine-like destiny: the person attains the celestial realm and enjoys the fruits of merit freely, emphasizing the ethical causality of karma and the exalted reward of dharmic conduct.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhishma continues instructing King Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma. Here he concludes a praise of certain virtues by describing their result: the virtuous person reaches Devaloka and experiences heavenly rewards according to desire.
