दुःखितस्यार्थमानाभ्यां दुःखानां प्रतिषेधनम् । न चैते स्वर्गकामस्य रोचन्ते सुखमेधस:
duḥkhitasyārthamānābhyāṁ duḥkhānāṁ pratiṣedhanam | na caite svargakāmasya rocante sukhamedhasaḥ ||
困厄之人以财与名望来抵御诸苦;然而此等解法,并不真正合乎求天之人——其慧根植于更高之乐者——的心意。
अंगियरा उवाच
Worldly supports like wealth (artha) and honor (māna) may seem to counter sorrow, but for a person oriented toward higher good (svarga and dharma), such remedies are not ultimately satisfying; lasting well-being is sought through merit and right conduct rather than social or material consolation.
Aṅgiras is instructing about the limits of worldly means in addressing suffering, contrasting the ordinary impulse to seek relief through status and resources with the outlook of a spiritually motivated person who prioritizes heavenly/ethical aims.
