Angiras Teaching
tathaivāśvayujaṁ māsam ekabhaktena yaḥ kṣipet | mṛjāvān vāhanādyaiś ca bahuputraś ca jāyate ||
The verse teaches that disciplined restraint—specifically the vow of eating only once daily during the month of Āśvayuja—purifies a person and is said to generate merit that manifests as prosperity (comforts like conveyances) and familial flourishing (many sons).
In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on vows and their fruits, the sage Aṅgirā continues listing month-based observances; here he states the result of observing ekabhakta (single daily meal) throughout Āśvayuja.
