Educational Q&A

Dharma includes disciplined everyday behavior: maintain cleanliness and respect for places associated with purity (like ashes used in rites) and with cows; avoid improper bodily acts, and observe practical hygiene such as not sleeping with wet feet.

In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhīṣma continues giving Yudhiṣṭhira practical rules of proper conduct (ācāra), listing do’s and don’ts for ordinary activities to cultivate purity, restraint, and reverence.
