रोचमान इति ख्यात:ः पृथिव्यां सो5भवन्नूष: । सूक्ष्मस्तु मतिमान्‌ राजन्‌ कीर्तिमान्‌ यः प्रकीर्तित:

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

rocamāna iti khyātaḥ pṛthivyāṃ so 'bhavannūṣaḥ |

sūkṣmas tu matimān rājan kīrtimān yaḥ prakīrtitaḥ |

毗舍波耶那说道:“那位强者在大地上成为名为罗遮摩那(Rocamāna)的国王。又,王啊,被称作苏克什摩(Sūkṣma)的底提耶——以聪慧与声名著称——也在此投生为人间君主。”在这一段中,叙述者继续揭示谱系所含的伦理警策:由严酷或可怖之业所驱动的力量,可能在人间以王者之身再现;故世俗王权或许掩藏着更古老、非人的冲动。因此,评断君王及其作为时,明辨之智(mati)与自制尤为关键。
