Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
भीमसेनं तु वातस्य देवराजस्य चार्जुनम् । अश्रिनोस्तु तथैवांशौ रूपेणाप्रतिमौ भुवि
bhīmasenaṃ tu vātasya devarājasya cārjunam | aśvinostu tathaivāṃśau rūpeṇāpratimau bhuvi ||
毗湿摩波耶那说道:当知毗摩塞那是风神伐由的一分,阿周那是天帝因陀罗的一分。同样,难俱罗与娑诃提婆出自阿湿毗尼双神之分身——其容貌风采,世间无双,能摄取众生之心。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Exceptional strength, skill, and beauty are presented as gifts rooted in divine sources; the implied ethical lesson is that such endowments should be aligned with dharma—used for protection, justice, and restraint—rather than for arrogance or harm.
Vaiśampāyana explains the divine origins of the Pāṇḍava brothers: Bhīma is a portion of Vāyu, Arjuna of Indra, and Nakula–Sahadeva of the Aśvin twins, emphasizing their incomparable qualities as part of the epic’s genealogical and theological framing.
