समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः
Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
यथावत् सूरपुत्रेण लौमहर्षणिना ततः । उक्तानि नैमिषारण्ये पर्वाण्यष्टादशैव तु,सूतवंशशिरोमणि लोमहर्षणके पुत्र उग्रश्रवाजीने व्यासजीकी रचना पूर्ण हो जानेपर नैमिषारप्यक्षेत्रमें इन्हीं सौ पर्वोको अठारह पर्वोके रूपमें सुव्यवस्थित करके ऋषियोंके सामने कहा
yathāvat sūraputreṇa laumaharṣaṇinā tataḥ | uktāni naimiṣāraṇye parvāṇy aṣṭādaśaiva tu ||
其后,依次第而不紊,苏多(Sūta)之子罗摩诃尔沙那(Lomaharṣaṇa)在奈弥沙林(Naimiṣa)宣讲《摩诃婆罗多》的十八篇(十八部)。其意在于:当毗耶娑(Vyāsa)之作既成,便被整编为十八分,并以严谨与忠实之法,在群集仙圣之前传授流布——以彰显准确保存与教授神圣史传之伦理责任。
राम उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic duty of faithful transmission: sacred history should be recited yathāvat—accurately, in proper order, and with integrity—so that the tradition remains reliable for learners and future generations.
The Sūta Lomaharṣaṇa is presented as reciting, in Naimiṣāraṇya, the Mahābhārata arranged into eighteen Parvans—setting the scene for the epic’s authoritative narration before an audience of sages.
