The passage highlights dharma in ritual life: rightful participation in sacred rites should be based on legitimate qualification and justice, not on exclusion or bias. Cyavana’s intervention underscores that spiritual authority can correct unfair denial of honor or entitlement.
The text points forward to the Sukanyā-upākhyāna, in which the sage Cyavana appears. During King Śaryāti’s sacrifice, Cyavana ensures that the Aśvin twins (Nāsatya and Dasra) are recognized as eligible to drink Soma, a privilege associated with participation and honor in the yajña.
