A teacher’s discernment recognizes genuine preparedness: skill is not only displayed in formal settings but is evident in small, telling signs. The affectionate embrace underscores that rigorous martial discipline is ideally guided by personal care and responsible mentorship.
Droṇa, hearing the loud twang of a bowstring even while asleep, immediately rises, approaches the person (the implied disciple), embraces him, and begins to speak—marking a moment of acknowledgment and intimate guru–disciple interaction within the training context.
