इष्वस्त्रज्ञान्‌ पर्यपृच्छदाचार्यान्‌ वीर्यसम्मतान्‌ | नाल्‍्पधीर्ना महाभागस्तथा नानास्त्रकोविद:

iṣv-astrajñān paryapṛcchad ācāryān vīrya-sammatān | nālpa-dhīr nā mahābhāgas tathā nānāsra-kovidaḥ ||

毗湿摩便探询寻访精通弓术与兵器之学的师长——以勇力著称、为世所敬者。因为他思量:才智浅薄、福分不厚、名望不显,又不通诸般武器之术者,绝不能妥善教导这些强盛的俱卢诸王子(及诸王孙)。于是他所求不止于寻常授业,而是要得一位足以以严整之学锻造其威力的宗师。
