चक्षुःपूतं चरेन्मार्गं वस्त्रपूतं जलं पिबेत् सत्यपूतं वदेद्वाक्यं मनःपूतं समाचरेत्
cakṣuḥpūtaṃ carenmārgaṃ vastrapūtaṃ jalaṃ pibet satyapūtaṃ vadedvākyaṃ manaḥpūtaṃ samācaret
当行于目所净之道(即细察而后行);当饮以布所净之水(即滤净之水);当言以真实所净之语;当作以心所净之行(内心清净而安住)。
Suta Goswami (narrating Shaiva dharma to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It frames Linga-puja as inseparable from śauca (purity) and satya (truth): the devotee approaches Pati (Shiva) not only with offerings, but with purified perception, filtered intake, truthful speech, and inwardly cleansed intention.
By insisting on truth-purified speech and mind-purified action, it points to Shiva-tattva as the pure, luminous consciousness (Pati) that is approached through removal of pasha—impurity, carelessness, and falsehood that bind the pashu (soul).
A practical śauca-sādhana aligned with Pāśupata discipline: careful awareness (seen path), physical purification (strained water), ethical restraint (truthful speech), and inner yoga (mind-purified conduct).
