etadvaḥ kathitaṃ sarvaṃ pitāmahamukhācchrutam purā sanatkumāreṇa tasmādvyāsena dhīmatā

It establishes the scriptural authority (āgama-prāmāṇya in Purāṇic form) of the Linga Purana’s Shaiva teachings by tracing them through an ancient guru-paramparā—Brahmā → Sanatkumāra → Vyāsa—thereby grounding Linga-worship and its vidhi in a revered transmission.
Indirectly, it frames Shiva-tattva as a revealed and carefully transmitted truth rather than mere speculation—knowledge safeguarded by sages. In Shaiva Siddhānta terms, such transmitted teaching supports right understanding of Pati (Śiva) as the supreme Lord who liberates the paśu from pāśa.
No single rite is specified; the emphasis is on śravaṇa and paramparā (receiving through authentic lineage), which is foundational for correct practice of Shiva-pūjā and for entering Pāśupata-oriented discipline with proper doctrinal grounding.
