sarvadāya śaraṇyāya sarvajñāyārtihāriṇe vedānāṃ pataye caiva vedavedyāya te namaḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating a traditional Shiva-stuti within the Purva-Bhaga context)
It frames Shiva (the Linga’s indweller) as both Vedapati (Lord of Vedic rites) and Vedavedya (the ultimate reality those rites point toward), aligning outer puja with inner realization of Pati.
Shiva is presented as Pati: omniscient, compassionate, the refuge of all beings, and the remover of suffering—transcendent yet accessible through Vedic revelation and disciplined worship.
Primarily stuti as an anga of Shiva-puja—praise that purifies the pashu (soul) and turns it toward Pati; it also supports Pashupata-oriented devotion by emphasizing refuge, knowledge, and removal of arta (affliction).
