pūrṇaṃ yugasahasraṃ vai paripālyā maheśvaraiḥ prajābhistapasā caiva teṣāṃ śṛṇuta vistaram
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It frames Shiva (Pati) as the cosmic protector across vast yuga-cycles, implying that Linga-worship aligns the Pashu (soul/devotee) with the sustaining power of Maheshvara that preserves dharma and praja.
Shiva-tattva is shown as governance and guardianship—Maheshvara upholds order over immense time, while enabling growth through tapas, indicating Pati’s sovereignty over creation’s continuity and refinement.
Tapas is central—an inner Shaiva discipline akin to Pashupata-oriented self-purification, where heat of practice reduces pasha (bondage) and supports praja/dharma under the grace of Pati.
