It stresses that correct determination of time and cosmic measures depends on knowing key causal factors—supporting the Shaiva view that ritual timing (kāla) and order (ṛta) should be grounded in right knowledge when performing Linga-pūjā.
By foregrounding “causes” behind jyotis and measurement, the verse aligns with Shiva as Pati—the supreme regulator of kāla and niyati—through whom cosmic order becomes intelligible to the pashu (individual soul).
It implies jyotiṣa-based discernment for choosing auspicious timings and disciplined observance (niyama) in Shaiva practice—useful for pūjā-vidhi and for the Pāśupata emphasis on aligning life with cosmic law.
