Suta (narrator) recounting the ritual arrangements within the Kurma Purana’s narrative frame
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Indirectly: it presents dharma through precise ritual order (east-facing seats, darbha), implying that disciplined conduct and purity are preparatory supports for higher knowledge of the Self taught elsewhere in the Kurma Purana (notably the Ishvara Gita section).
No direct yogic technique is taught in this verse; instead it highlights ritual purity and orientation (prāṅmukha) and the sanctifying use of darbha—traditional supports that purify the practitioner and environment, forming a dharmic foundation that complements later teachings on Pashupata Yoga in the text.
It does not explicitly mention Shiva-Vishnu unity; it reflects shared Vedic-Puranic dharma (yajna protocol, darbha sanctity) that both Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions uphold, a common ground later harmonized in Kurma Purana’s synthesis.
