This verse states that teachings which establish Viṣṇu are sāttvika and therefore worthy of being heard, as they uplift the mind and support dharma rather than producing grief.
By prioritizing sāttvika, Viṣṇu-centered instruction, it frames the inner preparation needed for death and the afterlife—cultivating clarity and devotion instead of fear and sorrow.
Choose daily listening/reading that strengthens sattva—such as Viṣṇu-kathā, dharmic teachings, and ethical reflection—and reduce exposure to content that breeds anxiety, agitation, or despair.
