oṃ namo (bhagavateḥ vāsudevāca namaḥ sarvāpahāriṇe / namo viśuddhadehāya namo jñānasvarūpiṇe
唵——顶礼。婆苏提婆说道:顶礼于至福的世尊,能除尽一切垢染与障碍者。顶礼于身相至净者;顶礼于自性即觉知与智慧者。
Vasudeva (invocatory voice within the Purana’s narration)
Concept: Bhagavān as the remover of all impurities/obstacles and as pure consciousness (jñāna-svarūpa).
Vedantic Theme: Brahman/Īśvara as cit (consciousness) and viśuddhatā; purification leading to knowledge and devotion.
Application: Use as daily praṇāma/mantra before study, japa, or śrāddha-related rites to cultivate inner purity and remove impediments (antarāya).
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: recurring Vāsudeva-namaskāra passages in Viṣṇu-stotra contexts; general stotra sections praising viśuddha-deha and jñāna-svarūpa
It frames the teaching with purification: Vishnu is praised as the remover of obstacles and moral impurities, preparing the listener for dharma and afterlife-related instruction.
By identifying the Lord as perfectly pure and as knowledge itself, the verse points to inner cleansing and right understanding as the foundation for overcoming sin and progressing toward moksha.
Begin study or ritual recitation with this remembrance: cultivate purity in conduct and seek clarity of knowledge, treating devotion and ethical living as complementary.
