Parīkṣit’s Inquiry into Vṛtrāsura’s Bhakti and the Beginning of Citraketu’s Trial

Here the most significant statement is that the earth completely produced all the necessities of life during the time of King Citraketu. As stated in the Īśopaniṣad :
Citraketu is introduced as a renowned sovereign king among the Śūrasenas, possessing vast prosperity—setting the stage for his later spiritual transformation through devotion.
It means “the earth became like a wish-fulfilling cow,” indicating that Citraketu’s kingdom produced abundant resources and comforts, as if fulfilling all desires.
It reminds us that material success can be extraordinary yet temporary; true fulfillment comes when prosperity is used responsibly and ultimately directed toward spiritual growth and bhakti.
