The Yadu–Vṛṣṇi–Andhaka Genealogies and the Purpose of Kṛṣṇa’s Advent
pauravī rohiṇī bhadrā madirā rocanā ilā devakī-pramukhāś cāsan patnya ānakadundubheḥ
This verse lists Vasudeva’s wives as Pauravī, Rohiṇī, Bhadrā, Madirā, Rocanā, Ilā, and states that Devakī was foremost among them.
Devakī is highlighted because Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Lord, appeared as her son; thus she is honored as chief among Vasudeva’s queens.
It encourages devotees to hear and remember the Lord’s advent and family context with reverence, strengthening śraddhā (faith) and bhakti through attentive hearing (śravaṇam).
