Rantideva’s Supreme Charity and the Hastī Lineage
Hastināpura and Pañcāla Origins
rucirāśva-sutaḥ pāraḥ pṛthusenas tad-ātmajaḥ pārasya tanayo nīpas tasya putra-śataṁ tv abhūt
In this verse, Śukadeva Gosvāmī states that Rucirāśva’s son was Pāra; Pāra’s son was Pṛthusena; Pāra also had a son named Nīpa, who had one hundred sons.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating these dynastic details to Mahārāja Parīkṣit as part of the Bhagavatam’s account of royal lineages.
They help readers understand the continuity of dharma through generations and place major spiritual-historical events and personalities in their proper lineage and context.
