那孩子因虚妄的羞惭而愤怒,对母亲说:“无谓的羞耻有何用?不贞之妇,何不承认过失?速速将你有罪的行径如实告诉我!”
This verse portrays how “false shame” can quickly turn into anger and harsh speech, showing that misplaced pride or misunderstanding of honor can disturb relationships and cloud judgment.
He felt insulted and provoked by a sense of dishonor; driven by that agitation, he demanded that his mother immediately state what fault she saw in him.
It cautions against reacting from wounded ego; instead of demanding answers in anger, one can pause, ask respectfully, and seek truth without insults—preventing escalation and regret.
