Nimi’s Disembodied Liberation and the Rise of the Mithilā (Videha) Dynasty
मरो: प्रतीपकस्तस्माज्जात: कृतरथो यत: । देवमीढस्तस्य पुत्रो विश्रुतोऽथ महाधृति: ॥ १६ ॥
maroḥ pratīpakas tasmāj jātaḥ kṛtaratho yataḥ devamīḍhas tasya putro viśruto ’tha mahādhṛtiḥ
摩卢之子为“普拉提帕迦”(Pratīpaka);普拉提帕迦之子为“克里塔拉塔”(Kṛtaratha)。克里塔拉塔生“提婆弥ḍha”(Devamīḍha);提婆弥ḍha生“毗湿鲁多”(Viśruta);毗湿鲁多生“摩诃陀利提”(Mahādhṛti)。
They are successive kings listed in Canto 9 as part of the dynastic lineage preserved by Śukadeva Gosvāmī, showing the continuation of righteous rule across generations.
Mahādhṛti means “great steadfastness” or “strong determination,” indicating Devamīḍha was celebrated for firm resolve and stability in leadership.
It highlights the value of steadiness (dhṛti): cultivating consistent discipline, responsibility, and integrity—qualities praised in exemplary leaders and devotees alike.
