Mārkaṇḍeya Ṛṣi Tested by Indra and Blessed by Nara-Nārāyaṇa
tasmai namo bhagavate puruṣāya bhūmne viśvāya viśva-gurave para-daivatāya nārāyaṇāya ṛṣaye ca narottamāya haṁsāya saṁyata-gire nigameśvarāya
This verse offers direct homage to Bhagavān as the highest (paradaivatā) and specifically venerates Him as Nārāyaṇa—the supreme object of devotion and refuge.
He praises the Lord through revered divine manifestations/titles: Nara-Nārāyaṇa (the sage and the Lord) and Haṁsa (the pure, transcendental teacher), highlighting the Lord as the source and master of Vedic wisdom.
Practice truthful, restrained, and purposeful speech—reducing gossip and harsh words—so one’s words support clarity, compassion, and remembrance of the Divine.
