Kali-yuga’s Degradation, the Advent of Kalki, and the Reset of the Yuga Cycle
yadā maghābhyo yāsyanti pūrvāṣāḍhāṁ maharṣayaḥ tadā nandāt prabhṛty eṣa kalir vṛddhiṁ gamiṣyati
This verse states that Kali’s influence grows progressively, and it marks a key increase beginning from the reign/time associated with King Nanda, linked with a celestial transition from Maghā to Pūrvāṣāḍhā.
Śukadeva speaks to Parīkṣit to outline the timeline and symptoms of Kali-yuga so the king (and listeners) can understand the declining age and take shelter of bhakti as the essential remedy.
Recognize the increasing pull of degradation and distraction, and respond by strengthening sādhana—especially hearing and chanting the Lord’s names and teachings of the Bhāgavatam.
