Hari’s Special Mercy, Śiva’s Quick Boons, and the Deliverance from Vṛkāsura
devaṁ sa vavre pāpīyān varaṁ bhūta-bhayāvaham yasya yasya karaṁ śīrṣṇi dhāsye sa mriyatām iti
This verse shows a wicked person using a divine boon for destructive, fear-causing purposes—illustrating how benedictions, when driven by sin and ego, become instruments of harm and lead to ruin.
Because his nature was pāpīyān (deeply sinful), he sought power meant for domination and terror, not devotion—so he requested a boon that would instantly kill whomever he targeted.
Power without purity becomes dangerous; the verse cautions seekers to pursue blessings for service and self-control, not for control over others, since harmful intentions ultimately backfire.
