Duryodhana’s Envy at Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya and the Avabhṛtha Festival
एतत्तेऽभिहितं राजन् यत्पृष्टोऽहमिह त्वया । सुयोधनस्य दौरात्म्यं राजसूये महाक्रतौ ॥ ४० ॥
etat te ’bhihitaṁ rājan yat pṛṣṭo ’ham iha tvayā suyodhanasya daurātmyaṁ rājasūye mahā-kratau
大王,我已在此回答了你所问——在盛大的罗阇苏耶祭中,苏约陀那(杜利约陀那)心性乖戾、心怀不满的缘由。
Thus end the purports of the humble servants of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda to the Tenth Canto, Seventy-fifth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Duryodhana Humiliated.”
This verse concludes that Śukadeva has explained how Suyodhana (Duryodhana) displayed daurātmya—an evil, envious mentality—during the great Rājasūya rite.
Parīkṣit had asked about the incident at the Rājasūya; Śukadeva answers and then signals completion of that explanation in this verse.
It warns that envy and resentment—especially toward others’ success—lead to self-destruction; cultivating humility and devotion counters that tendency.
