Kṛṣṇa Defeats Bāṇāsura and Receives Śiva’s Prayers
The Śoṇitapura Battle and the Jvara Episode
बाहुषु छिद्यमानेषु बाणस्य भगवान् भव: । भक्तानुकम्प्युपव्रज्य चक्रायुधमभाषत ॥ ३३ ॥
bāhuṣu chidyamāneṣu bāṇasya bhagavān bhavaḥ bhaktānakampy upavrajya cakrāyudham abhāṣata
见班那的臂膀被斩落,主湿婆怜悯其信徒,便走近持轮者(克里希纳),对祂说道如下。
This verse shows Śiva as bhaktānukampī—deeply compassionate to his devotee—so he personally approaches Kṛṣṇa to seek mercy for Bāṇāsura even while punishment is occurring.
Because Bāṇāsura was Śiva’s devotee; seeing his arms being cut off, Śiva, out of mercy, went to Kṛṣṇa (the wielder of the Sudarśana chakra) to speak on his behalf and request compassion.
Even when correction is necessary, this verse highlights advocating for others with empathy—seeking their welfare and guiding them toward protection and reform rather than mere condemnation.
