Kṛṣṇa Teases Rukmiṇī; Her Devotional Reply and the Lord’s Assurance
चैद्यशाल्वजरासन्धदन्तवक्रादयो नृपा: । मम द्विषन्ति वामोरु रुक्मी चापि तवाग्रज: ॥ १८ ॥
caidya-śālva-jarāsandha dantavakrādayo nṛpāḥ mama dviṣanti vāmoru rukmī cāpi tavāgrajaḥ
美腿者啊,尸输波罗、沙尔瓦、迦罗三陀、檀陀伐克罗等诸王都憎恨我;你的兄长鲁克弥亦然。
They were rival kings whose pride and hostility toward Kṛṣṇa’s rising influence and divine mission turned into active enmity; Kṛṣṇa names them here while speaking to Rukmiṇī.
Rukmī, Rukmiṇī’s elder brother, opposed her marriage to Kṛṣṇa and thus became inimical; Kṛṣṇa includes him among those who resent Him.
Envy and ego can make even close relations hostile; a devotee learns steadiness—remaining aligned with dharma and devotion despite opposition.
