Nanda Mahārāja Celebrates Kṛṣṇa’s Birth; Vasudeva Warns of Danger
śrī-vasudeva uvāca karo vai vārṣiko datto rājñe dṛṣṭā vayaṁ ca vaḥ neha stheyaṁ bahu-tithaṁ santy utpātāś ca gokule
In 10.5.31, Vasudeva advises not to stay long in Gokula because ominous disturbances (utpātāḥ) are present, implying the need for vigilance and protection around Kṛṣṇa’s early pastimes.
After paying the annual royal tax and meeting his relatives, Vasudeva senses danger—portents indicating trouble—so he urges a quick departure to avoid inviting harm amid Kaṁsa’s looming threat.
Do your duties responsibly, but don’t ignore warning signs—when circumstances become harmful or unstable, act promptly and prudently to protect what is sacred and important.
