Uddhava Sent to Vraja: Consolation to Nanda-Yaśodā and the Gopīs’ Separation
evaṁ niśā sā bruvator vyatītā nandasya kṛṣṇānucarasya rājan gopyaḥ samutthāya nirūpya dīpān vāstūn samabhyarcya daudhīny amanthun
This verse shows the gopīs turning ordinary duties—lighting lamps, honoring the home, and churning yogurt—into devotional, sanctified activity within Krishna’s Vraja atmosphere.
Uddhava, as Krishna’s messenger and intimate associate, stays with Nanda in Vraja; Śukadeva describes how their night of conversation passes, setting the scene for the gopīs’ morning routines amid separation from Krishna.
Treat daily responsibilities as seva: begin the day with purity and remembrance, keep a sacred atmosphere at home, and offer routine work to Krishna with a devotional intention.
