Gopī-gīta Aftermath: Kṛṣṇa Returns and Explains Divine Non-Reciprocation

अपरानिमिषद्दृग्भ्यां जुषाणा तन्मुखाम्बुजम् । आपीतमपि नातृप्यत् सन्तस्तच्चरणं यथा ॥ ७ ॥
aparānimiṣad-dṛgbhyāṁ juṣāṇā tan-mukhāmbujam āpītam api nātṛpyat santas tac-caraṇaṁ yathā
另一位牧女以不眨的双眼凝望祂的莲华面容;纵然深深品尝其甘露,仍不觉满足,正如圣者观想主的莲足亦永不餍足。
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura explains that the analogy given here of saintly persons meditating upon the Lord’s feet is only partially applicable, since the ecstasy the gopīs felt when Kṛṣṇa came back was actually unparalleled. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī also reveals that this particular gopī is the most fortunate of all, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.
This verse says that even after fully beholding and “drinking” Kṛṣṇa’s lotus face, the gopīs were not satisfied—just as true saints are never satiated by the sweetness of His lotus feet.
Śukadeva describes their absorption: they feared losing even a moment of Kṛṣṇa’s presence, so their gaze remained fixed, expressing the peak of loving devotion (premā-bhakti).
Cultivate steady attention to Kṛṣṇa—through attentive japa, hearing Bhāgavatam, and mindful darśana—so devotion becomes a living “taste” that keeps deepening rather than a one-time experience.
