The Vraja Elders Question Kṛṣṇa’s Identity; Nanda Recounts Garga’s Prophecy
श्रीनन्द उवाच श्रूयतां मे वचो गोपा व्येतु शङ्का च वोऽर्भके । एनं कुमारमुद्दिश्य गर्गो मे यदुवाच ह ॥ १५ ॥
śrī-nanda uvāca śrūyatāṁ me vaco gopā vyetu śaṅkā ca vo ’rbhake enam kumāram uddiśya gargo me yad uvāca ha
难陀说道:“诸位牧人,请听我所言,愿你们对我幼子的疑虑消散。关于这孩子,迦尔伽牟尼曾对我如此说道。”
Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmī comments, “The words previously heard from Gargācārya awakened Nanda Mahārāja to the truth about Kṛṣṇa, and thus, by Nanda’s constantly remembering His activities, all thoughts about their being impossible ceased in him. Now he is instructing the cowherd men with these same words.”
In this verse, Nanda Maharaja urges the gopas to listen carefully so their doubts about the child Krishna may be dispelled, grounding faith in the words of saintly authority (Garga Muni).
Nanda refers to what Garga Muni previously told him about Krishna, using the sage’s authoritative words to reassure the cowherd men and remove their suspicions.
Follow Nanda’s approach: hear attentively from trustworthy spiritual sources and let informed hearing replace anxiety and speculation with steadier faith.
