Lord Śiva Instructs the Pracetās (Śiva-stuti and the Path of Bhakti)
इदं विविक्तं जप्तव्यं पवित्रं मङ्गलं परम् । नि:श्रेयसकरं चापि श्रूयतां तद्वदामि व: ॥ ३१ ॥
idaṁ viviktaṁ japtavyaṁ pavitraṁ maṅgalaṁ param niḥśreyasa-karaṁ cāpi śrūyatāṁ tad vadāmi vaḥ
现在我将诵念一则真言:它超越尘世、清净无染、至为吉祥,并能成就究竟福祉。请专心谛听我所宣说。
The word viviktam is very significant. No one should think of the prayers recited by Lord Śiva as being sectarian. Rather, they are very confidential, so much so that anyone desiring the ultimate prosperity or auspicious goal of life must take the instructions of Lord Śiva and pray to and glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead as Lord Śiva himself did.
This verse recommends that the prayer be chanted as japa in a secluded, focused setting, emphasizing its purifying and supremely auspicious effect.
Lord Śiva prepares the Pracetās to receive and practice a powerful devotional prayer (Rudra-gīta), assuring them it grants purification and the highest welfare when properly chanted.
Set aside a quiet daily time for mantra/prayer japa with attention and sincerity, treating it as a purifying discipline aimed at inner clarity, devotion, and lasting spiritual good.
