Dhruva’s Benediction from Kuvera and His Ascension to Viṣṇuloka
Dhruvaloka
idaṁ mayā te ’bhihitaṁ kurūdvaha dhruvasya vikhyāta-viśuddha-karmaṇaḥ hitvārbhakaḥ krīḍanakāni mātur gṛhaṁ ca viṣṇuṁ śaraṇaṁ yo jagāma
It is said by Cāṇakya Paṇḍita that life is certainly short for everyone, but if one acts properly, his reputation will remain for a generation. As the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, is everlastingly famous, so the reputation of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s devotee is also everlasting. Therefore in describing Dhruva Mahārāja’s activities two specific words have been used: vikhyāta, “very famous,” and viśuddha, “transcendental.” Dhruva Mahārāja’s leaving home at a tender age and taking shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the forest is a unique example in this world.
This verse highlights that true refuge is Lord Viṣṇu alone—Dhruva, even as a child, left comforts behind and approached Viṣṇu for shelter, showing surrender as the essence of bhakti.
Because his actions were driven by sincere devotion and determination to seek the Lord, not by impurity or selfish indulgence—his renunciation and single-minded pursuit of Viṣṇu made his character famous.
Prioritize spiritual goals over distractions: reduce time spent on trivial pleasures, choose disciplined devotional practice, and consciously seek God’s shelter through prayer, chanting, and steady commitment.
