ūrjāyāṁ jajñire putrā vasiṣṭhasya parantapa citraketu-pradhānās te sapta brahmarṣayo ’malāḥ
The verse states that from Ūrjā, Vasiṣṭha had seven pure Brahmarṣis as sons, with Citraketu described as foremost among them.
It means “spotless Brahmarṣis”—highly purified brāhmaṇa sages characterized by spiritual purity and adherence to dharma.
By valuing purity of character, truthfulness, and dharmic conduct—qualities associated with true sages—rather than merely external status or lineage.
