The Lord Appears to the Devas and Instructs the Truce; Mandara Is Brought for Churning
śrī-bhagavān uvāca hanta brahmann aho śambho he devā mama bhāṣitam śṛṇutāvahitāḥ sarve śreyo vaḥ syād yathā surāḥ
In this verse, the Lord specifically asks Brahmā, Śiva, and the devas to hear His words with full attention, indicating that careful śravaṇam leads to śreyas—true auspicious benefit.
Because the upcoming plan for the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) required unified cooperation and clear divine guidance; the Lord calls the leaders—Brahmā and Śiva—and all devas to listen together.
Before making major decisions, pause and hear guidance attentively—especially from scripture, teachers, and wise counsel—because focused listening helps one choose what is truly beneficial (śreyas) over what is merely immediate or convenient.
