Vāmanadeva Praises Bali; the Measure of Three Steps; Śukrācārya Warns Against the Gift
niśamya tad-vadhaṁ bhrātā hiraṇyakaśipuḥ purā hantuṁ bhrātṛ-haṇaṁ kruddho jagāma nilayaṁ hareḥ
Because he heard of his brother’s death and, burning with vengeance, went to confront and kill Hari (Viṣṇu), whom he regarded as the cause behind his brother’s slaying.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating the history, describing Hiraṇyakaśipu’s reaction and his hostile approach toward Hari.
Uncontrolled anger narrows one’s vision and drives destructive choices; the Bhagavatam repeatedly shows that vengeance against the Divine leads to downfall, while devotion and self-control lead to protection and upliftment.
