Prelude to Vāmana’s Petition
मुक्तावितानैर्मणिहेमकेतुभि- र्नानापताकावलभीभिरावृताम् । शिखण्डिपारावतभृङ्गनादितां वैमानिकस्त्रीकलगीतमङ्गलाम् ॥ २० ॥
muktā-vitānair maṇi-hema-ketubhir nānā-patākā-valabhībhir āvṛtām śikhaṇḍi-pārāvata-bhṛṅga-nāditāṁ vaimānika-strī-kala-gīta-maṅgalām
城中有珍珠装饰的华盖投下清凉荫影,宫殿穹顶飘扬着珍珠与黄金的旗幡。孔雀、鸽子与蜂鸣之声常常回荡;城上空有载满丽人的飞天宫车(维摩那)盘旋,持续吟唱悦耳的吉祥颂歌。
This verse describes an aerial chariot adorned with pearls, jewels, gold, flags, and auspicious celestial singing—showing the Lord’s advent as accompanied by unmistakable divine splendor.
He is narrating the Lord’s descent in the Vāmana episode; the majestic decorations and auspicious sounds emphasize that the Supreme Lord’s līlā is transcendent and worshipful, not ordinary.
