मात्रालिङ्गपदं त्यक्त्वा शब्दव्यञ्जनवर्जितम् ।

अस्वरेण मकारेण पदं सूक्ष्मं च गच्छति ॥४॥

IAST Transliteration

mātrāliṅgapadaṃ tyaktvā śabdavyañjanavarjitam |

asvareṇa makāreṇa padaṃ sūkṣmaṃ ca gacchati ||4||

Translation

Từ bỏ “trạng thái của lời” được đặc trưng bởi lượng (mātrā) và dấu (liṅga), lìa âm vị và sự phát âm phụ âm; nhờ “m” (makāra) không kèm nguyên âm (asvara), hành giả tiến vào trạng thái vi tế.

Academic Translation

Abandoning the ‘word-state’ characterized by measures (mātrā) and signs (liṅga), devoid of phoneme and consonantal articulation, one proceeds to the subtle state by the ‘m’ (makāra) without vowel (asvara).
