Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and other ṛṣis (frame, implied)
Scene: Cosmic flood reaches the sky; yet Kāśī shines like a lotus, held aloft on Śiva’s trident. Pārvatī urges Bhava to go there; Śiva stands as Smarahara, calm amid dissolution.
Kāśī is portrayed as transcendently protected by Śiva—spiritually enduring even beyond cosmic cycles.
Kāśī (Vārāṇasī), envisioned as upheld on Śiva’s triśūla during pralaya.
The impulse is pilgrimage (yātrā) to Kāśī; no detailed rite is specified in this verse.
