शूद्रस्य भार्या शूद्रैव सा च स्वा च विशः स्मृते । ते च स्वा चैव राज्ञस्तु ताश्च स्वाचाग्रजन्मनः
śūdrasya bhāryā śūdraiva sā ca svā ca viśaḥ smṛte | te ca svā caiva rājñastu tāśca svācāgrajanmanaḥ
Vợ của một Śūdra chỉ là người nữ Śūdra; theo Smṛti, nàng ấy là người phối ngẫu chính đáng của ông. Với Vaiśya, người nữ Vaiśya được ghi nhớ là vợ chính đáng. Những người nữ ấy cũng thích hợp cho vua (Kṣatriya); và cũng thích hợp cho người sinh ra cao hơn (Brāhmaṇa).
