Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Doctrinally clarifies bondage mechanics: buddhi belongs to prakṛti (a pāśa-category); liberation is Śiva’s grace bringing prakṛti under mastery—supporting the Siddhānta view that the soul is distinct from mind/nature and needs anugraha to transcend them.
Role: teaching
It teaches that the mind’s highest faculty (buddhi) is still a product of Prakṛti, so liberation is not achieved by intellect alone; Śiva’s grace is what finally brings Nature and its bindings under mastery, opening the way to mokṣa.
Linga-worship centers the seeker in Pati (Śiva) beyond Prakṛti; devotion to Saguna Śiva invokes mahāprasāda, through which the restless workings of Prakṛti become pacified and disciplined.
Regular japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with Śiva-pūjā—optionally with bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa—cultivates surrender and steadiness, aligning buddhi to receive Śiva’s grace that subdues Prakṛti.
