Suta Goswami (narrating the Umāsaṃhitā discourse to the sages, presenting a stotra addressed to the Goddess Umā/Śakti)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Gaurī
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
It honors Umā/Śakti as both the giver of victory and auspiciousness and as the awe-inspiring power that removes impurities (pāśa) through grace—showing that liberation arises by reverent surrender to the Divine Mother inseparable from Śiva.
In Shaiva practice, the Liṅga represents Śiva as Pati, while this verse praises Śakti as His dynamic power; it supports saguna worship where devotees approach Śiva together with Umā, recognizing their non-dual unity in worship and blessing.
Use it as a devotional stotra during Śiva–Pārvatī pūjā (especially Mahāśivarātri), offering flowers and bilva while mentally contemplating Śakti’s two aspects—nurturing grace (dogdhrī) and protective fierceness (ghora)—alongside japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
