Đã được thân người—lấy dharma làm gốc và có thể thành tựu mọi mục tiêu chân thật—nếu muốn nỗ lực để đạt lợi ích, thì trước hết tự mình phải gìn giữ chính cái gốc ấy, tức dharma.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Śiva’s upadeśa: dharma is the root that must be protected for any true gain, culminating in mokṣa; pilgrimage and worship are framed as dharma-sustaining supports rather than ends in themselves.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It teaches that human birth is valuable because it enables dharma-based living that culminates in liberation; therefore, any pursuit of benefit must be grounded in safeguarding dharma, the very support of spiritual progress.
Linga/Saguna Shiva worship is meant to purify intention and conduct; this verse frames worship as fruitful only when the devotee protects dharma—truthfulness, purity, compassion, and self-restraint—which become the ‘root’ that sustains devotion and leads toward Shiva’s grace.
Prioritize daily dharmic discipline alongside worship—regular japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya), maintaining purity (including Tripundra/bhasma where appropriate), and truthful, non-harming conduct as the protective ‘root’ of all spiritual gain.
