The verse teaches that untruth—especially perjury—creates strong pāśa (bondage) through adharma, leading the soul toward painful consequences; truthfulness is a purifier aligned with Shiva as the inner witness (sākṣin).
Linga-worship centers on Shiva as the ultimate Witness and Truth; living in satya supports purity (śuddhi) needed for effective devotion, while habitual lying contradicts the very principle the Linga signifies.
Adopt satya-vrata (a vow of truth), confess and correct false speech, and support daily Shiva upāsanā such as japa of the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to steady speech and mind in dharma.
