Śiva–Arjuna Yuddha and the Subjugation of Pride (Śiva-parīkṣā)
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It highlights Śiva as bhakta-vatsala—the Lord whose grace responds to sincere devotion—showing that divine guidance arises when the devotee is steadfast and receptive.
By portraying Śaṅkara personally consoling and uplifting Arjuna, the verse affirms Saguna Shiva—God approachable through form, name, and loving relationship, as in Linga worship and mantra-bhakti.
The takeaway is bhakti with steadiness: daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with simple Linga-upachara (water, bilva) to cultivate the devotion that invites Śiva’s compassionate guidance.
