Protocol of Tapas, Mantra-Japa, and Śiva-Dhyāna
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Bhikṣāṭana
The verse highlights Śiva’s acintya-śakti (inconceivable power): even within a dramatic outer event, the Lord reveals a striking sign that turns attention from mere action to divine presence, urging the soul (paśu) to recognize Pati behind all appearances.
A sudden, wondrous ‘mark’ appearing in the narrative functions like a sacred indicator (liṅga) of Śiva—pointing to the Saguna Lord who becomes perceptible through signs and forms, while still remaining transcendent in essence.
Use the event as a dhyāna cue: contemplate Śiva’s presence revealed through ‘signs’ in life while japa-ing the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), cultivating reverence and inner stillness.
