(Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”

It shows how even the Devas, when driven by fear or ego, fall into confusion; Shaiva teaching emphasizes that clarity and protection arise from surrender to Pati (Shiva) rather than reliance on one’s own flawed policy.
The Devas’ agitation highlights the limits of worldly power; in the Shiva Purana, stability is regained by taking refuge in Saguna Shiva—often approached through Linga worship—as the accessible form of the supreme Lord who restores order.
A practical takeaway is to shift from panic to śaraṇāgati (refuge) by japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” ideally with tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and rudrāksha to steady the mind.
